Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In a highly dynamic context, like the one in which we are living, in which the changes are not linear and therefore are completely unexpected, the notion of technology needs to be redefined: it must in fact be conceived as a form of social relationship, where the hardware and software play a supporting role in the "brainware". The only ones that recognize this role are those that Zeleny (1990) defines as ¿high technologies¿, ie those particular technologies that ¿¿modify the qualitative nature of the tasks, the performances, the interrelations, the information flows and also the skills required, the roles covered, management and coordination styles, and even the organizational culture itself (Zeleny M., 2002). The objective of our work is to understand if Web Services can be classified or not among the ¿high technologies¿: the crucial point, in short, lies in the fact that ¿high technologies¿ by definition hinge on the enhancement of the individual, encouraging him to transfer and share knowledge, while Web Services does not seem to have this primary objective, but rather to reduce the costs of developing interactive web applications, delivering them directly to end users and making them flexible to possible adjustments should they occur changes in the requirements while no reference is made to the mechanisms of transfer and sharing of knowledge that are the basis of every ¿high technology.¿ application.
