Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The first part of the work focuses on the sources of linguistic thought in Port-Royal. It is an indispensable step both to highlight the originality of the works of Port-Royal, and, above all, for a correct interpretation of the portorealist texts. In the second part, dedicated to the analysis of the structure of the 'Grammar' of Port-Royal, the hypothesis is advanced that the work is the first example of linguistic analysis set according to strictly scientific epistemological and methodological criteria. This would explain, moreover, the important position that the work has assumed in the evolution of linguistic thought. The third part deals with the portorealist explanation of some categories and functions of language: the name, the article, the determination, the relative pronoun and the related distinction between main and dependent clauses, which appears for the first time in the reflection on language and remains a result acquired in the history of linguistics.
