Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In this contribution it is argued that according to Popper it is not possible to prove the truth of a theory, but can only prove that its falsity is not demonstrated. This seems to be the distinctive trait of all Popperian epistemology, in fact the philosopher claims not to know, in the scientific discourse, for the term "rational" a better synonym than "critical". Discussing this assumption, it is concluded that the critical rationalism in some aspects is insufficient to justify the suspicion that Popper has unintentionally favored the emergence of irrationalism; however, we must not forget that Popper's philosophy continues to be valid instruments to correct the obscure points of his theory of rationality.
