## Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The text, addressed to teachers of the first cycle school, collects a considerable number of didactic proposals regarding polygons, of different levels and complexities, suitable or adaptable both to primary and secondary of first degree and exposed in detail. As a central theme in learning geometry, polygons are often addressed in a stereotyped and simplified way, with the analysis of only the "particular cases" of triangles and quadrilaterals and with the main attention to metric issues (perimeters and areas, mainly) . This work, on the other hand, aims to focus on the general properties that can be actively experienced by pupils also starting from the observation of reality, to then detail the specific properties of some classes of polygons. To reinforce the link between experience and learning, the text proposes numerous activities, including movement, and the use of particular circular playing cards which present the representation of the geometric entity. Through a series of more or less dynamic games, which can be implemented through these cards, the pupil strengthens the understanding of geometric entities and the ability to recognize and describe non-standard representations. The text is accompanied by a commented glossary, which summarizes and explains the geometric concepts related to polygons, for use by the teacher who wants to clarify the fundamental concepts first of all to himself. A large section of online materials (printable or projectable, including playing cards) supports the teacher who wants to take advantage of the proposals as they are expressed or who intends to use them as a starting point. The initial theoretical chapter frames the proposal in terms of didactics of geometry, focusing on the link between geometric entity, definition and representation and offers a brief reflection on the role of the game in learning geometry.
