Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The artistic literary orientations of Cardinal Federico Borromeo (pastoral poetry, spiritual Petrarchism and erudite taste) can be found in the lines of early 17th century Lombard opera production. In this regard the verses of Luca Pastrovicchi are analyzed. Symptomatic are also the poems of the Ligurian Scipione della Cella (published in Milan in 1609), the 'Lombard' poems of Tommaso Stigliani, the Pavese formation of Girolamo Preti and, finally, the teachings of Erycius Puteanus, father of modern laconism.
