Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The largely unpublished decoration of the ms. 252 of the Bibliothèque Municipale of Arras, with the Biblical Postillae by Nicolò de Lyra, commissioned by Gian Galeazzo Visconti, allows to identify the plurality of iconographic models adopted in the Visconti late Gothic figurative culture: in particular we consider the images concerning the architectures, the works human, Jewish furnishings and oriental components, also in relation to other biblical cycles, such as the one painted on the vaults of the transept of the Cremona Cathedral.
