Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] This text by Pittaluga and Seghezza addresses a topic of extreme economic and political importance. It is, in fact, a historical and theoretical examination of the development of the international monetary system (IMS) from the dawn of the gold standard to today. A historical study of the development of money and of the monetary system appears all the more important in this turning point, in which, after decades of hyper-globalization, a phase of national retrenchement of production processes is being followed, also following the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, a dynamic that will necessarily have consequences for the SMI
