Abstract
The contribution recognizes the path of conception,
writing and staging of Avventure di Pinocchio based
on Giana Anguissola’s libretto, with music by Gino
Marinuzzi senior and junior. While the opera was
put on stage in May 1956, Giana Anguissola started to
think about the script in 1938, as an interesting and unpublished
correspondence with the publisher Bemporad
shows. The letters allow to rebuild Anguissola’s intents
and the complexity of staging the project for its matters
of theatrical dramaturgy, music composition and
staging. The analysis of the text allows to observe the
variants introduced, and therefore the performing line
adopted by Giana Anguissola for its theatrical adaptation.
In the rewriting of Collodi’s masterpiece, publishing,
music, theatre and literature meet with the shared
goal to educate Italian children of the 1950s.
