Abstract

The essay focuses on the attitudes shown by US Catholics and the Holy See towards Mexican Catholicism during the revolutionary and postrevolutionary period. It sheds light particularly on the contemporary debate about religious liberty as well as on different perspectives of modernisation of the Mexican Catholic Church.
