Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Replacing the CEO (AD) represents one of the most significant moments in the life of a company. The reasons that influence the decision to replace the CEO are the focus of this work. In particular, the study focuses on the effect of three factors: the performance of the company, the listing on the stock exchange and the characteristics of the institutional context, in terms of the difference between common law contexts and civil law contexts. The empirical analysis is based on a sample of non-financial companies, which were listed on the Italian Stock Exchange and on the London Stock Exchange in the period 2000-2009.
