The volume aims at: - defining the concept of "academic spin-off", documenting the relevance of this phenomenon in Italy and providing some operative indications with the support of some cases that testify to the successful paths, but also the difficulties that are interposed to the creation of a company that takes place in these ways; - offering a series of in-depth materials that do not wish to provide a manual of the "perfect entrepreneur", but more modestly they propose to give the reader (which assumes lacking direct experience) a sense of the reality of the business world and some technical indication that can favor it in the reflection before and in the implementation then of the project that is being evaluated. Conscious that the creation of a business requires greater and more specific in-depth analysis of the issues we have been trying to tackle, our contribution should not be evaluated on the basis of how many spin-off projects will have stimulated, but possibly on the basis of "unrealistic" entrepreneurs. he will have dissuaded from undertaking an experience that would probably have had a negative outcome. We would be satisfied if this reading had clarified, to some of them (in time), the ideas on the real problems that would have been met, or if it had provided to entrepreneurs better and fortunate the support of reflections and information that have facilitated its success. - Testifying the contribution that the University of Bologna has given to the systematization of the problems of business creation in the academic field, among other things through the design and provision of some initiatives that have seen the contribution of teachers and researchers of Bologna University.
