Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The theme of the transition to parenthood has been considered in literature mainly from an individual perspective, through a focus on individual roles (mother and - to a lesser extent - father). Instead, little attention has been paid to dyadic aspects, able to express the intrinsically relationship nature of this moment of transition. The aim of the present study is to offer a reflection on the transition to parenthood from a dyadic perspective, focusing both on generative situations and on those characterized by different levels of discomfort. To this end, a longitudinal analysis was performed on a sample (N = 126) of mothers and fathers awaiting their first child in four stages (8th month of pregnancy; 40 days, 6 months, 12 months after birth) . Each partner was given the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale at each time (Cox et al., 1987; Benvenuti et al., 1999). The collected data were first synthesized in dyadic measurements (Lanz & Rosnati, 2002) and subsequently analyzed through the Latent Growth Mixture Model, which allowed us to identify different subgroups and to isolate different trends of the dyads over time.
