Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In the first decades of the seventeenth century, in Milan and in Lombardy, there were many forms of sacred and hagiographic theater and paralithurgical practices of a dramatic and performative nature. The essay analyzes the presence of biblical culture in religious ceremonies with a Marian theme and in particular reconstructs an Assumptionist paralithurgy, carried out in Vigevano, in the Duomo and in the square in front, in 1616, by a Carmelite, Cherubino Ferrari, known for his activity theatrical also at the Gonzaga court of Mantua. It also examines the college representations dedicated to the figure of San Carlo Borromeo, organized between 1602 and 1628 by Jesuits from Brera.
