Abstract
This essay reconstructs the historical climate and the orientations of Italian public opinion principally through articles that appeared in newspapers after the fall of Fascism. In particular, the essay analyses how the king and the Crown were perceived by the Italian people in their relationships with the Fascist regime and in view of the evolution of the Italian political and institutional system.
