Abstract

Cividate Camuno is a town of the middle Valcamonica, located mainly on the left bank of the river Oglio. Following the Roman conquest of the valley, this town became the seat of the civitas Camunnorum, being in a "pivotal position" for the roads that passed along the valley. There is a lot of archaeological evidence that attests life and attendance of the town throughout the Roman period. However, if certain areas of the ancient city are well known and documented, as the housing insulae and he space for the spectacle buildings, the Forum reconstruction is more complex. The purpose of this text is the presentation of some interpretations about it, to try to resolve some issues that are unfortunately still open.
