[Autom. eng. transl.] The birth, in the common imagination, is characterized as a painful event, which is feared and in which we entrust ourselves totally to those who have "technical-medical knowledge" in the matter. However, for millennia, humans have given birth naturally and women, through experience, have been able to learn reliable knowledge about their body and birth event. This culture is not alien to man, it should only be rediscovered and "brought to light". It is therefore essential to accompany the couple to reflect on the deeper dimensions underlying "becoming parents", since with childbirth a new creature is brought to light and with it a multitude of existential, emotional and experiential knowledge that prepare and support the couple in the taking on one's educational task. In this horizon, it is particularly interesting to investigate the more hidden and shadowed dimensions with respect to the theme of birth and to recover the questions of meaning underlying educational action. From a pedagogical perspective, it becomes essential to restore the name and citizenship of the couple's accompaniment before, during and after pregnancy, focusing on the meaningful dimensions of becoming parents. It is to be hoped for a close collaboration between health, socio-health and socio-educational services, which integrate the health and affective-relational value of birth and offer pedagogically marked contexts within which future parents can establish relationships of mutual exchange and enrichment and promote growth processes.
