Abstract
Amodio and Catalano’s book on Leonardo Sciascia and criminal justice provides an opportunity to sketch a microphysics of the “juridical” in the work of the Racalmuto writer. From the observation of Sciascian characters who face, or are faced with, the “problem of justice”, the distinction between law as lex and law as ius emerges, and along this path the relationship between power and justice is thematized. In conclusion, law in Sciascia is shown as a confluence of freedom and reason, although “relativized”, insofar as it is subordinated to the central value of the person.
