Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] n the occasion of the second anniversary of the Document on Human Brotherhood (February 4, 2019), a text arrives in the bookstore that reinterprets its meaning, highlighting the "ways" for a concrete feasibility of the concepts of encounter and dialogue.
Starting with the Document on Human Brotherhood, signed in Abu Dhabi by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyeb on 4 February 2019, the volume written jointly by Paolo Branca and Antonio Cuciniello aims to re - to read this document in the light of the relations that the Catholic Church has established with Muslims. Particular attention is paid in the book on the path of promoting mutual understanding and respect, carried out by Pope Francis since the beginning of his pontificate.
At the same time, the Authors deepen the concepts of encounter and dialogue in their concrete feasibility. We read in the book: «In this historical moment, more than ever the different faiths cannot live in isolation and mutual indifference, they cannot become a reason for opposition. They must be able to live together in the sharing of their respective differences, trying to understand the reasons of the other [...]. In this sense the words of Pope Francis are illuminating, citing three fundamental orientations that can support dialogue: the duty of identity, the courage of otherness and the sincerity of intentions ".
The volume is enriched by a preface by Mons. Khaled Akasheh, Head of the Islam Office of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, and by a presentation in which the authors refer to the latest encyclical of Pope Francis Fratelli tutti. Encyclical that strengthened and broadened the concepts and commitments indicated in the Abu Dhabi Document.
