Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The a., Based on unpublished documentary sources, recomposes the history, until now neglected, of the late seventeenth-century appendix to the cycle consecrated to the life of St. Charles Borromeo in the Cathedral of Milan and, at the same time, outlines the parable of the Congregation of the Scurolo di S. Carlo, a little known institution erected by Federico Borromeo, promoter of the initiative and well integrated in the political, economic and institutional fabric of the city. In retrospective light, new ideas emerge that illuminate the context within which the celebration of the Carolina memory matured through the use of images. Accompany the vol. documentary appendices, synoptic and summary tables, index of proper names.
