Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] In 2011, the deficit in foreign trade in agri-food products recorded the worst value of all time, both in Lombardy, where it stood at 4,769 million euros, and nationally, where it reached 8,956 million euros : the growth on an annual basis and in absolute value is equal to 16% and 23.2% respectively. As in 2006 and 2010, that is to say for the third time since the beginning of the new millennium, in Lombardy exports (+ 5.9%) grew less than imports (+ 10.7%). The increase in the latter depends on growth in terms of both quantity (+ 1.9%) and price (+ 3.9%), while that of imports is the result of a substantial increase in average prices (+11 , 9%) and a slight decrease in terms of quantity (-1.1%). In Lombardy, agri-food imports represent 7.8% of total imports, while exports stop at 4.7%; the same percentage shares calculated for the national total, on the other hand, reach 9.7% and 8.1% respectively.
