Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The rights-based approach overcomes the needs-centered orientations, promoting empowerment and participation and requiring greater responsibility of institutions in developing better living conditions and skills. The assumption of this approach requires, above all, a transformation of the gaze in observing problematic situations, conceptualizing the apparent need that is found as an unrealized (and possibly denied) right; considering the people involved not so much as victims or objects of intervention, but rather as subjects of a process of growth and strengthening aimed at making them capable of demanding their rights; placing the attention and activating interventions not only at the microsystemic level of relational and life contexts, but also at wider levels of the social, economic, cultural and political context.
