Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Review of Virtuose Niedertracht. Die Kunst der Beleidigung in der Antike by Dennis Pausch. The volume Virtuose Niedertracht. Die Kunst der Beleidigung in der Antike aims to offer an anthology of personal aggression in Latin. Overall, the contribution is informative and enjoyable to read on such a complex and multifaceted topic as verbal aggression: the reader most unfamiliar with the topic is easily led through the meanders and ambivalences of scenes with a high level of conflict and has extensive notes available to delve deeper into the individual topics; the more informed reader finds interesting food for thought and a wise bibliographical selection, which presents the cornerstones of research and favors the latest contributions published or in the process of being published in a recently increasingly investigated sector.
