Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Like Coluccio Salutati in Florence, Pasquino Cappelli in Milan had not only an absolutely fundamental political role, but also an important cultural activity. He is a real humanist chancellor, as he collects and studies the books of the classics, promotes the cult of Petrarch's works, acts as a patron and creates a network of intellectual contacts. Finally, with the new culture, he renews his professional activity at the service of the civitas. He is modeled on Petrarch himself who had already served in Milan as chancellor and high diplomat for the Visconti.
