Abstract
The episcopate of Montini in Milan was an important confrontation between Church and modern city. In a time of crisis of Catholicism because of the growing secularization, Montini oriented the Church in a missionary sense. The parishes, ancient territorial structures, had to change, opening to the city. However, this pastoral project clashed with many resistance
