Abstract
The theme of bread in the food tradition, ascetic and regular, becomes a privileged key of reading to look at the monastic world in its medieval period; the reference to the Eucharistic bread, moreover, highlights the importance of symbols, not only religious, that accompanies this central product in human food and symbol of eternal life.
