Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The article illustrates the importance of the Roret Textbooks in the history of specialized aterminology. During the nineteenth century, the challenge of describing the state of knowledge in industrial, commercial, manufacturing and agricultural civilization was largely taken up by the collection of the Roret Manuals, designed to fix the concepts and spread the technical skills of the time. They will long be a point of reference for many sectors. These are manuals for all interested workers, for all experts and connoisseurs of these disciplines and techniques, with the intention of documenting their arts and passing on their know-how.
