Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The aim of the chapter is to define the concept of open innovation, explaining its evolution in management studies and innovation organization and the important connections with other concepts, such as those of systems and ecosystems of innovation and social innovation. In this way it is proposed to illuminate some guiding concepts and points of reference with an open and connective approach with respect to different strands that in some cases, for reasons of disciplinary boundaries, struggle to communicate with each other.
