One learns equality in the classroom

Abstract

Educating on differences provides boys and girls with the tools to imagine themselves beyond the prevailing patterns, to criticize and connect them with their desires, talents and feelings. A critical reading of socio-political, cultural and knowledge organization spread through basic state-approved training pathways (starting from those conceived for teachers and social workers and implemented by universities, and high education schools) can thus contribute to improving the level of social justice and mutual respect among citizens of both sexes. By sustaining these positions, the present paper summarizes the stance of European and national policies with regard to the binomial school education and gender difference. Meanwhile, the article tries to problematize some unavoidable conditions for attention on gender to foster a path of civilization, maturity and assumption of responsibilities on the part of a Country.
