Abstract
The contribution concerns the biographical paths of Afro-descendant women in Italy, marked by traces and legacies of Italian colonialism. The analysis adopts a post-diasporic approach, with two declinations: that of M. S. Laguerre (2006) and that of S. Scafe (2019), which emphasizes inhomogeneity and power relations within African diasporas.\r\nThe presentation of some results of a qualitative survey (2022-23), based on 16 life tales of women of different generations from the Horn of Africa, and residing in different cities in Northern and Central Italy, is part of this interpretative framework. Thanks to the biographical analysis, the connections between meanings of diaspora, life stages, territorial affiliations and forms of engagement for social change are reconstructed, also from an intersectional perspective. The result is a variety of forms of political, social, educational/cultural, professional and peace engagement in relation to the local and transnational links of the interviewees with the Horn of Africa.
