[Autom. eng. transl.] The traditional approaches to the theme of corporate social responsibility (CSR) pay much attention to the analysis of the mechanisms by which the assumption of social responsibility by a company would result in better economic performance in the medium and long term. Despite the The growing number of initiatives implemented to meet the needs of one or more stakeholders, the central question about the benefits that society as a whole would obtain from such initiatives still remains in the background. Individual companies benefit, but it is not clear if the net effects on the economic, social and environmental system are noticeably positive. The number of stakeholders taken into consideration by a single company remains limited, and many of a community's interests may not to be included among those considered by companies that are engaged in CSR practices. In other words, there is a risk that the set of CSR initiatives will not be able to overlap optimally with the real priorities. The concept of corporate philanthropy is placed in this sense in a perspective of wider social responsibility that calls into question all the subjects that operate within a community or territory: companies, institutions, non-profit, social formations. The content of social responsibility extends beyond traditional boundaries and calls into question a process of sharing resources that can benefit from collaboration dynamics between companies in order to pursue interests that are no longer defined discretionally or on the basis of generic social or environmental priorities, but in response to specific collectively recognized needs. In this perspective of collaboration, the theme of philanthropy for the company is also inserted, dedicated to generating resources for the start-up and development of companies that have in their DNA the ability to respond to specific social causes managing to maintain conditions of autonomy. and economic balance through its own activity.
