Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Ignazio Lorenzo Thjulen is a leading representative of the Italian anti-democratic and counter-revolutionary thought of the late 18th century. Among his works, the New Philosophical-Political Vocabulary stands out, indispensable for anyone who longs to understand the new revolutionary language. Pervaded by a lashing ironic vein, the New Vocabulary presents the French Revolution as the hitherto known overthrow of the world, in a pejorative sense. At the end of the traditional alliance between throne and altar, the fulcrum of the ancient social, political and religious regime, according to the author, corresponds the loss of meaning of the most current terms of the Italian language, a true symbol of chaos that on the ashes of the old and lamented society, it has taken the place of the traditional order. Hence the need to understand the new (and treacherously distorted) meanings of words such as peace, progress, justice and many others.
