Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The contribution begins with the recognition of the most ancient witness of the Legenda maior of the Brescian saints Faustino and Giovita, kept in Brescia at the rectory of Santa Afra-Sant'Angela Merici, but disappeared during the 19th century to the point of obliging the Jesuit Fedele Savio to publish the text through a nineteenth-century copy, and merged as a book legacy of the priest Luigi Francesco Fè d'Ostiani (1829-1907) through his heirs immediately after his death at the beginning of the twentieth century, where he was attributed the signature Brescia, Biblioteca Queriniana, Fè d'Ostiani, 14. The study continues with the presentation of a handful of new witnesses who, however, in the majority of cases, present variable and adapted extensions of the text, evaluating together some compositional hypotheses of the text
