Abstract
The new archaeological researches at Populonia offer important suggestions about the reconstruction of the urban landscape of the ancient town, mostly regarding the environmental and urban evolution of the so called “Low Town”. The faint and hardly understandable traces found in different places let now, seen in a different light, tell a new story of the Gulf of Baratti and the surrounding areas from proto-history to the Roman age.
