Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Through the analysis of the manuscript tradition of the 'Stromati', the A. comes to establish that the texts placed after the VII book in the codex unicus, are in all probability to be ascribed to the 'Hypotyposes', a lost work of Clement of Alexandria, of which some fragments and passages are received in Latin version (Adumbrationes). The texts in question appear with autonomous titles in the manuscript and, therefore, usually considered as autonomous units: Book VIII of the Stromata divided into two parts; then the so-called 'Excerpta ex Theodoto' and finally the 'Eclogae Propheticae'. In reality they are the result of the extrapolation carried out before Eusebio di Cesarea: the titles and the idea of accrediting the existence of a VIII book of the 'Stromati' must be traced to this phase.
