Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The literary notes written for the events of the Second War of Independence, in particular the texts that refer to the assistance of the wounded, are just annotations related to the contingency of the event that do not claim to make real literature. Compared to humanitarian and social issues, literature, even those of Catholic inspiration, preferred to deal with politics and history for which historical novels prevailed, based on the Manzoni example. Around the time of the Second War of Independence, the literary commitment to humanitarian and social issues appears to be very limited and of little relevance. Where it presents itself through the contribution of important pens it remains tied to the great historical themes and the political dimension.
