Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Thomas Mann claims that Nietzsche also has another name: disease. In fact, when looking at his life it is impossible not to run into his pathology: beyond the delusional outlet in the madness that marks his last decade, the whole existence of Nietzsche appears indelibly marked by illness. Perhaps, however, no topic like this is as obvious as it is complex and insidious. On the one hand, Nietzsche's philosophy is idealized considering it without an effective relationship with his suffering; on the other, Nietzschean thought is deprived of its real autonomy, shifting its value only to pathology. To get out of this stalemate it is necessary to go beyond this logic of the alternative. Thought and disease must not be put in opposition to each other, but always linked: in Nietzschean philosophy, in fact, thought and disease interpenetrate each other, transferring one into the other in a relationship of fruitful circularity.
