Abstract

After the study of a large number of embedded- amphorae used to reclaim land and improve geotechnical or hydrogeological conditions, the Author ponders on the verb munire, frequently associated with words like via and iter. Analizing classical texts and meaning of verbal form, the A. think possible that munire was used also for the building method with embedded-amphorae structures. In classical Authors doesn' t existe a specific word; for this reason when we read munire viam, munire iter ,we can be legitimated to suppose the presence of an embedded-amphorae structure, if the natural state of the soil implys a geotechnical reclaim. Following this reasoning we perhaps can moreover use “munitio” to mean embedded-amphorae structures.
