Abstract

The contribution analyses some suggestions which consider the social situation and the prophetic preaching (i.e. the generating context of the precept) as fundamental elements to interpret the 10th Commandment. This essay is going through some tales presenting human yearning as cause of behaviours threatening the social cohabitation and generating imbalance. As a conclusion, the commandment does not prohibit the action but the yearning causing it. The last commandment is also recapitulary, since its vilation may be followed by the violationof the other commandments.
