Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The Therapeutic Assessment represents a real innovation in the way of conceiving and conducting the psychological evaluation. Finn supports and demonstrates how the moment of psychological assessment can be, in itself, a powerful opportunity for therapeutic intervention with individual clients, couples and families, as well as help in situations of impasse of ongoing psychotherapies. Through a series of steps, from the formulation of initial questions to the discussion of the results, the client is not only an active part in the process of knowing his own psychic functioning, but is also involved in an experience of profound and lasting change. In a limited number of meetings the usual assessment tools used in a rigorous, and at the same time flexible and creative way, are integrated with multiple techniques that refer to different theoretical models (psychodynamic, humanistic-experiential, narrative, cognitive, systemic, etc. .). In the text the Author illustrates the theoretical references of the Therapeutic Assessment and clarifies the techniques that allow the reader to apply it in his own clinical practice.
