Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The article reconstructs the history of La Casa del Parto opened in Milan on 12 October 1957 (now Casa Maternità Via Lattea) in the Mother and Child Village founded twelve years earlier by Elda Scarzella for assistance to single mothers. Through the collection of the memories and testimonies of four midwives, a gynecologist and an educator who worked and worked at La Casa del Parto, attention is paid to the experience started by Scarzella, whose main objective was to give girls the chance mothers to give birth in a family environment, serene and welcoming, with the guarantee of a continuity in assistance from the medical, psychological and educational point of view from the beginning of the pregnancy to the first years of the child's life.
