Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay deals with the issue of the topicality of literary works, with particular reference to textual content, in the school perspective of a motivational teaching. Historically, the issue of the thematic updating of literary works was raised at the beginning of literary modernity, to respond to a new need for mirroring the contemporary world. Several examples of possible actualizing readings of nineteenth and twentieth-century canonical texts, both realistic and non-realistic, are presented; with the warning, however, to also safeguard the historicity of the works and to use, if anything, the "classics" as "contrasting liquids" to get to know each other through the practice of confronting the different.
