Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Neonicotinoid insecticides are an essential component of defense strategies against Myzus persicae, a key species for Italian peach orchards and many herbaceous crops. The work highlights the current situation of the diffusion in Emilia-Romagna of the main mutations "target site" responsible for the resistance to neonicotinoids, pyrethroids and dimethylcarbamates. The target-site resistance to neonicotinoids is widespread in aphids collected in peach orchards, but has also been found in aphids collected from herbaceous crops, highlighting the possibility that resistant aphids, migrating to secondary hosts, can influence phytosanitary defense strategies. The L1014F (kdr) and M918T (s-kdr) mutations in the sodium channel sequence are present in almost all populations. The presence of acetylcholinesterase insensitive to dimethylcarbamates was detected in less than 25% of the analyzed cases. These data describe a worrying situation that must be controlled to avoid ineffective treatment and to provide information useful for defining appropriate anti-resistance strategies.
