Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Building a couple identity, moving from the ego to us, is a salient task for couples facing the transition to marriage. But what does it mean to be a couple? And what can facilitate or hinder the process of building one's identity as a couple? And finally, what are the results? The volume aims to answer these questions, first from a theoretical point of view, framing the process of building a couple's identity in a psychosocial and family perspective, to then present the results of an empirical research composed of three specific studies: a descriptive study, which allowed to trace an identikit of couples in transition to marriage, and two correlational studies that highlighted the crucial role of intergenerational relations in the development of couple identity and the good results of this process. Finally, starting from the results of the research, useful hints and indications are presented for the planning of preventive-promotional interventions aimed at couples. The volume is addressed to psychologists, trainers, operators, researchers, students and in general to anyone interested in deepening the path that leads the couple to be much more than the simple sum of two individuals.
