Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] Even if the tourist activity generates wealth, promotes cultural openness, stimulates the encounter between social groups, it is not automatic that it solves the problems of a territory or creates imbalances and impacts that are often unexpected or unwanted. For this reason the tourist activity must be planned and managed in a way that generates positive value and in a lasting way finding a balance between the "tourist pressure" and the natural and socio-cultural capital of the territory, stimulating collaboration between different categories of subjects: tourists (bearers of needs and expectations); private operators (interested in business opportunities); local public institutions (committed to achieving development goals); the resident population (bearer of social, professional and quality of life needs). Thus the trade offs (costs / opportunities) emerge among the economic, social and ecological aspects of the local community. The contribution discusses these aspects.
