Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] In the fifties and sixties of the last century, the city of Milan saw profound changes in its population, in its productive structures and in the regional planning. If on the one hand demographic flows and building activity underwent unprecedented quantitative intensification, on the other these phenomena were decisive in creating new balances in the organization of the territory and in the very structure of the economic system, giving growth a more connotation widely regional. This article intends to provide some insights on the complex interaction between demographic dynamics and changes in the economic and urban fabric, showing how these variables influence each other giving rise to extremely rapid transformations in their realization and lasting effects. The presentation of some concrete examples regarding the city of Milan shows how the major works carried out in those years tried to "chase" a change that seemed, in many respects, faster than the adaptability of the bodies responsible for governing the territory.
