Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] The article intends to highlight, through some exemplary cases, how the image of the city of Milan was interpreted in painting and decorative sculpture in the 1920s and 1930s. In a city projected towards industry, modern and dynamic, decidedly renewed in its center, but neglected in the quickly growing suburbs, its public image appears on the walls of the new buildings, generally sweetened and projected towards its past glories. In particular, the essays focus on places such as the Milan Central Station, the Provincial Administration Building, the Toro Gallery in the San Babila area, the Piazza del Duomo venue.
