Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] The essay deals with some aspects of the profound changes that took place in the city of Milan following the political and administrative transformations following the affirmation of the Napoleonic regime in Italy, first in the republican form (1802-1804), then in the imperial form (1805-1814). The main urban transformation projects are examined, to make room for the needs of new offices and government apparatuses, but also for the modernization of the city viability, with the opening of new straight streets, and new squares. Finally, cultural innovations, theatrical activity and above all the Alla Scala theater are taken into consideration.
