Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Although there are very few known cases of Milanese who went on pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella, the sources offer clues to support the fact that since the 11th century the jacopean sanctuary was (with Jerusalem and Rome) one of the favorite destinations for pilgrims leaving the diocese ambrosiana. The presence in Milan, in the second half of the Middle Ages, of a confraternity named after the apostle James and of a hospice for pilgrims attests that the city was a transit point for those who placed themselves on the compostellan path.
