[Autom. eng. transl.] Finalize the methodology of social research to the analysis of socio-educational contexts: this is the objective of the volume that represents a fundamental tool for those working in the educational and training field, where research is now indispensable for planning, implementing and evaluating interventions. The new 2014 edition maintains the same system, but offers an up-to-date view of both research methods and techniques, and the numerous changes that have taken place in the panorama of education in contemporary society. After a presentation of the basic principles of social research, the methodological itinerary of the research is tackled, from the formulation of the problem, to the collection and analysis of data, to the drafting of a report. Research techniques and tools are then presented, from the most traditional (investigation and social indicators) to the most recent (evaluation research, action research, visual sociology, documentary analysis). The last chapter deals with field research with reference to various educational contexts: family, early childhood service, school, vocational training center, reception and recovery community, places of youth aggregation. In this analysis, account is taken of the emergence of new research questions (for example, on education in the digital age or in the multicultural society), which can guide appropriately the socio-educational work of planning and realization.
