Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] Alberti's Momus is a political treatise and a satire of customs constructed in the name of duplicity and dissimulation, necessary in a time of loss to treat the delicate and elusive themes of love, religion, politics, luck. Alberti prefers the metamorphosis of matter and form, celebrates the duplicity of the characters, draws and adapts to the page the strategies to present in a changing and beautiful allegories a reality of pain, a being without certainties and dissolved in a heap of contradictions. The philosophy of history that derives from this is based on the awareness that the whole is only the combination of infinite fragments, similar to the work of the skilful architect who draws the perfection of the monument from tiny isolated and scattered stones.
